Congrats to all those students who are graduating from universities and high schools during this season, and to the parents who have supported them, and sometimes coddled them
I wish you could have given that to every graduate. My daughter graduated this year, and while not "straight", she doesn't label herself, is most assuredly very difficult to offend as am I. Well done, as usual!
As a current student (bachelors in political science) this really, really inspired me to work incredibly harder and apply myself even more. As a woman who’s been incredibly interested in science I often find myself being surprised with the engrained behaviors I previously had. In example: “science is for guys, women are in particular fields, etc” but reading something like this, especially from a man addressing all of us gives me that reassurance that as a woman I can succeed IF I apply myself and that gender really doesn’t matter when it comes to academia. Thanks again for such a wonderful and inspiring read!
Thank you for sharing so eloquently what seems to me a noble principle.
