Three New Origins Events, on either side of the Atlantic Sept 25, Oct 15, and Oct 17.
Events in Birmingham, Orange County, and San Diego, Sept 25, Oct 15, and Oct 17th, respectively offer new opportunities to meet and reflect about science, and society
I am taking a break from my August break to announce three different fall events being sponsored by the Origins Project Foundation. The first is our second partnership with AUK in the United Kingdom, and the latter two events are being organized by the Foundation alone. I hope those of you living nearby can attend one or more of them.
Changing Minds in Changing Times:
In June of this year, The Origins Project Foundation and Atheist UK partnered to put together the first Changing Minds in Changing Times Event. This sold-out event brought together a group of scientists and scholars, including myself, Sophie Scott, Blay Whitby, Keith Porteous Wood, and special guest Richard Dawkins for an evening of lectures and discussion. Because of the great interest shown in that event, we decided to host another event, this time in Birmingham. Philosopher Anthony Grayling, Ex-Muslim activist and speaker Maryam Nemazie, and I will be speaking, and, as of yesterday, Richard Dawkins will also be present and the evening will cap off with a recording of Richard’s new podcast, The Poetry of Reality. Richard will be on hand, and will, for the first time, interview me about both science, and issues of science and society about which I have recently written. As with the first event, there will be a dinner available for a limited number of those attending who purchase a dinner coupon before they run out.
The event will be held at the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham, on September 25th, from 6:45 to 10:30 pm. Below I attach an pdf which provides the link (given here as well) for ticket purchases,
On Oct 15th and Oct 17th The Origins Project Foundation will present two public events, collectively entitled A Night at the Museum.
First, at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA on Oct 15th at 7 PM I will be giving the first full public lecture on the topic of my new book, to be followed by at Q&A and a book signing. There will also be a VIP reception before the event allowing a meet and greet and the opportunity for one on one discussions. Here is the link for tickets. :
Then, on Oct 17th, at the San Diego Air and Space Museum, at 7 pm I will be live on stage with Prof. Brian Keating, of UCSD, one of the principle investigators on the Simons Telescope exploring the Cosmic Microwave Background, and host of the popular Into the Impossible podcast. We will record a live episode of The Origins Podcast, which will be co-posted on Into the Impossible as well. There will be book signings for books by both of us, and a VIP reception beforehand as well. Here is a link for tickets.
We are excited about being able to produce these live events at such attractive venues, and I am looking forward to meeting many of you there. See you in September and October!
You and Brian = AMAZING!!
