Free tickets for Middle and High School Students for Fall Origins Project Foundation Events at Orpheum Theater in Phoenix.
The Foundation will be offering 1000 free tickets to Roosevelt and Phoenix Unified High School Districts so students can attend our upcoming science events.
The new school year is almost upon us, and to celebrate, The Origins Project Foundation will be providing 1000 free tickets to middle and high school students in Phoenix to attend our November 15th and 16th events. This is possible thanks to generous donations we have received to support this effort. Our donors will be acknowledged in the event program.
On Tuesday, November 15, evolutionary biologist, bestselling author of The Selfish Gene, and one of the world’s most revered science communicators, Richard Dawkins, will join me onstage for a dialogue about his most recent books, Flights of Fancy, and Books Do Furnish a Life, as well as my upcoming book The Known Unknowns. We will also discuss the state of science, and more.
On Wednesday, November 16 I will be joined by Nobel Laureates Barry Barish and Kip Thorne, as well as world renowned cosmologists Michael Turner and Alan Guth, to discuss our current understanding of the Universe, and prospects for the future.Â
Both of these events were originally scheduled in April of this year, but had to be postponed due to my mother’s passing. I am very grateful for everyone’s understanding, and also for the generosity of the speakers, who agreed to alter their schedule to accommodate this change.
The Foundation had already established 50% discount off tickets for teachers and students with ID’s. Because inspiring young people about science, well before they consider post-secondary educational opportunities, especially students in underserved communities, is vital in nurturing and developing the next generation of leaders and contributors across a wide range of areas the Foundation decided to go further and solicited funds for this new effort. We feel these experiences are more important than ever, particularly for students in middle school and high school who have had few special event/special assembly experiences due to Covid restrictions the past two years.
Tickets remain on sale for the general public, and include VIP tickets, which include a special pre-reception event, and, for the November 15th event, a free personalized autographed copy of Richard Dawkins’ newest book. Go to https://originsproject.org/events/ for a link to purchase tickets. I look forward to seeing some of you there!
Prof Kraus, please forgive me for directing this question to you, but I've made some of my work colleagues aware of this event (we're Phoenix based) and they are very interested in their middle/high school children attending and are wondering how to make an application for tickets? There seems to be some confusion on how to do this.
