A Third Nobel Laureate added to the Origins Project Foundation Stellar Night of Cosmology, part of our Public Event series in Phoenix Nov 15-16th

Two amazing nights of science on stage at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix this November.

Our long awaited Inaugural Origins Project Foundation Public Event series at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix, Nov 15th and 16th, is almost upon us, and I am happy to say the evenings are getting evening more exciting as the dates approach.

On Nov 15th Richard Dawkins and I will once again join together onstage, for the first time in Phoenix since the world premier of The Unbelievers in 2013. As we did for a sold out event at the Gammage Auditorium in 2012, Richard and I will have a dialogue about all things science. We will discuss his two new books, Flights of Fancy, and Books Do Furnish a Life, as we as recent exciting developments in biology and genetics. We will also also discuss, as a sneak peak, my upcoming book, The Edge of Knowledge, about what we know we don’t know about the Universe, from Time and Space, to Life and Consciousness. And I expect we will also enter into a discussion about recent political events, and how our understanding of science can, or should, impact upon them. If our past on stage discussions are anything to go by, it should be fun, entertaining, and provocative. Audience members will be able to submit questions, and Richard and I will answer a selected set after intermission that evening.

On Nov 16th we will be hosting a Stellar Night of Cosmology. As of this week, three Nobel Laureates will join us for the event. Barry Barish and Kip Thorne, who won the Nobel Prize for the discovery of gravitational waves, will be on hand to discuss future possibilities for understanding, gravity, black holes, and the Universe. John Mather has recently joined the lineup. He won the Nobel Prize for his observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, and also he importantly led the science team that designed and built the James Webb Space Telescope, which produced the most recent spectacular “Pillars of Creation” image shown above. John will be able to discuss JWST and its promise for the future. Finally, we will be joined by Alan Guth, the Kavli and Breakthrough Prizewinning theoretical physicist who developed the concept of Cosmic Inflation, the current paradigm for understanding our Universe on its largest scales. Alan will be able to discuss the implications of Inflation for the existence of other Universes within a Multiverse. It should be a fascinating evening, and once again, Audience members will be able to submit questions for response by the panelists.

As I announced previously, besides offering tickets for half price to students and teachers, The Origins Project Foundation is donating 1000 tickets to two Phoenix area school districts so that interested science students, from both middle and high schools, and their teachers, can attend the events for free. We will be selecting a special set of questions submitted by these students to the panelists, who will respond to them each evening. We are also hosting an opportunity for selected students to meet with our speakers earlier each day.

We will be hosting a meet and greet reception at the Orpheum theatre before each show, and those who purchase VIP tickets for each show will be invited to attend. Limited numbers of VIP tickets still remain for sale. There are also special ticket bundle prices for those who purchase tickets for both evenings.
